Today Boris Johnson is holding an emergency Cobra meeting to decide whether to bring in measures to delay the spread of the coronavirus, Covid-19.

As it stands, there have been a total of 280 confirmed cases in the UK, with more being reported daily. Today’s meeting will look at measures to slow the spread of the virus and could include a ban on large gatherings and sporting events. It may also include encouraging people to work from home to avoid using crowded public transport.

As a fitness entrepreneur, you’re bringing people together to work in close proximity, and whilst your members may be extremely fit and healthy, it’s important that you take steps to minimise any potential spread.

The NHS has created a list on how to avoid catching or spreading the coronavirus, these can be adapted to help your clients in your own facility.

To minimise the spread of the coronavirus make sure that you communicate with your clients, you can do this quickly and easily with your Custom Branded App through Push Notifications to all your members.

1. Communicate

Keep clients informed on what you’re doing in your studio to keep them safe

2. Wash your hands

Ask your clients to wash their hands for 20 seconds before class

3. Pump it

Place Antibacterial hand pumps at the entrance of your studio and in your changing rooms

4. Keep it clean

Provide antibacterial wipes or sprays and ask clients to clean equipment that they have touched

5. Call 111

Ask clients who have developed symptoms or suspect that they have come into contact with anybody who has the coronavirus to stay at home and contact the NHS helpline on 111.

Coronavirus symptoms
The symptoms of the coronavirus are:

  • A cough
  • A high temperature
  • Shortness of breath

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
